Sue and Steve’s latest travels – back on the road again!!
Friday 4th March saw us depart Austinville on a new adventure. We had hoped to beheading to Lake Eyre for a true outback experience but unfortunately the roads are constantly being closed due to the bad weather so we decided to leave that trip until July.
We headed instead South for Yamba where we set up camp next to the Clarence River. A charming little spot! We met up with George and David for dinner who are also heading South on their beautiful catamaran Nimrod on their own adventure. They took us on a lovely cruise down the Clarence River. Even with squally showers and choppy water it was still a real treat.
Unfortunately, our second nights stay at the campsite, testing out our roof top tent (now actually on top of the truck), turned out to be a bit of a nightmare. Howling winds buffeted us around so much we got up at 2 am, folded up the tent and spent a very restless night in the car!!
It’s all good though! We have visited Angourie and Brooms Head but again because of the winds and rain we didn’t linger. We will most definitely come back though.
We are now sat in a campsite at Jackadgery near the Gibraltar Range National Park. We are about to have dinner so I will sign off for now and update the blog in a few days. We hope you enjoy the photos.
