Alice to Broome & back. Heat & flies!!

From Alice Springs we decided to head up to Broome in Western Australia via the Tanami Track. The road is 1050 Km to Halls Creek, mostly dirt road, with just a couple of Aboriginal communities on the way.  A welcome spot near Halls Creek is Palm Springs, a great camp site amid the dust of the deserts.

Broome had been hit with three cyclones earlier in the year and combined with the unseasonably hot weather the heat, humidity & mosquitoes were unreal. We decided the only way to survive was to head back to Alice to cool temperatures!

Heading back to Queensland via the Plenty & Donahue Highways tomorrow - more dirt roads :)

Heading North from Adelaide.

Well Sue & I are finally back on the road again, currently in the centre of Oz at Alice Springs. We are aiming to travel from Adelaide in South Australia across the deserts to Broome and the Kimberley in Western Australia, traversing the Savannah Way in the Northern Territory & Queensland to Cairns and finally head South back home - maybe arriving around mid July.
