Along the Queensland / New South Wales Border

At rest
Saturday night -  Stopped in the Inglewood  State Forest 5 kms from Inglewood.  Numerous tracks and no one else around!  Bit windy so we will be sheltered by the trees.  Got the new toilet set up, fantastic, sheer luxury.  Put the hammock up too (thanks Kath and Roger). Such a lazy arvo-:)

Sunday night - Drove through Boomi to Mungindi where we found a great place for the night near the Race Course and by the river.  Steve got the hammock out and we watched a huge red belly black slither underneath him.  We were lucky to grab a shower at Tbe Two Mile Hotel just outside the town and then a good coffee at The Smashed  Bean.  (Also had hot pools, Boomi has Artisan spa).  Met up with friends Alison and Dave before heading off to Gundabloui and  making use of the dirt roads rather than the bitumen.

Monday night - Goodooga .  Camped up by river and relaxed.  The hammock is getting a lot of use.  Steve threw a line in the river.

Puncture

Tuesday we reached the Calgoa Nat Park and met up with D&A.  It's the first time we have arranged to meet anyone whilst traveling and we had a really lovely time with them camped up by a lagoon for the night.   There was good conversation by the fire and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.  We realised we had somehow got a flat tyre so  made plans to get it fixed at Bourke.

Wednesday.   The morning started off well but our lasting memory will be the brown snake I nearly walked on.  I screamed and did a girlie dance before collecting myself and taking photos.  He was not a happy snake and had his head raised in anger.  Dave followed him for sometime before he curled himself up in hole, the snake not Dave!  Our walk round the Lagoon was done with far more caution after that! We showered and had a slow start.  In hind sight we should have stayed back at the Lagoon with D&A till the next morning, but we were keen to get the tyre fixed  before the weekend and potential delays as these outback towns have a habit of closing early!  As a result we were driving till 5 pm and were really tired when we stopped by the river at Two Rivers in Collerina.  The tracks have been good to drive on and not too rough.   We enjoyed it immensely.  We didn't see another vehicle on the road for 5 hours?
